Ingredients
Meatballs
- 454 g ground pork
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 yellow onion, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- olive oil
Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup maple syrup, dark for its robust taste
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- white sesame seeds for garnish
Method
- Preheat the oven to 195°C and on line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- First, prepare the meatballs: In a large bowl, mix 454 g ground pork, 1 egg, ¾ cup Italian breadcrumbs, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 grated yellow onion, 2 tbsp soy sauce, and 1 tbsp fish sauce.
- Shape about 25 meatballs from the mixture.
- Place the meatballs and spinkle olive oil on top.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Prepare the sauce: In a wok, mix ¼ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup maple syrup, the juice of 1 lime, 2 tbsp water, and 1 tsp cornstarch.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, heat the sauce mixture to medium heat and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring until slightly thickened.
- Add the meatballs to the pan and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce.
Serve the meatballs over the rice or couscous and garnish with white sesame seeds.
