maple and pecans squares

  • 210g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 130g ( ½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 260g (1 cup) brown sugar
  • 2 big eggs
  • 125ml (½cup) maple syrup
  • 100g (¾ cup) pecans
  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a food processor, mix the flour and 100g (⅓ cup) brown sugar together. Add the butter and mix until the texture get sandy.
  3. Press the mix firmly into the bottom of a 8-inch (20 cm) square mould. 
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly gold.
  5. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together the rest of the brown sugar (160g (⅔ cup) , the eggs, the maple syrup and the pecans.
  6. Pour the filling over the crust while it is still hot.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes
  8. Let cool completely. Cut into squares.
