maple candied spiced pecans

maple candied spiced pecans

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) maple syrup
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups (200 g) pecan halves

Method

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the maple syrup, spices and salt. Add the pecans and stir to coat well. Spread the pecans out on the baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until the pecans are well-toasted. Let cool. The pecans will keep for 2 weeks in an airtight container at room temperature. If the nuts become sticky, simply dry them out on a baking sheet in an oven preheated to 350°F (180°C) for 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Serve as cocktail nibbles.
